Halong Bay: tips before you go

Se siete diretti in Vietnam una delle tappe principali sarà senza dubbio la Baia di Halong. Più di 2000 isole che spuntano dalle acque verde smeraldo della baia e offrono uno scenario indescrivibile a parole. E’ considerata una delle meraviglie del mondo.

Prima di avventurarvi ci sono però alcune cose da sapere per poter organizzare la vostra visita al meglio. Ecco le nostre indicazioni:

–Se non avete problemi di budget l’esperienza sarà indimenticabile. Considerate che quasi tutte le crociere seguono un itinerario standard che vi porterà a visitare le grotte nelle isole più famose della baia, questo comporterà molto probabilmente trovarsi nello stesso luogo assieme ad altre compagnie di turisti, ma è inevitabile.

-Molte crociere di “due giorni” con pernottamento a bordo durano in realtà meno di 24h e costano centinaia di dollari per persona.

-Potete invece trovare escursioni a buon prezzo di un giorno partendo da Hanoi per $60, ma non dovete avere troppe pretese. Potrebbe essere facile imbattersi in cibo scadente o in situazioni igieniche precarie. Oppure con $200 potete passare due notti nella baia, kayak, nuoto e pasti compresi. Quindi pagando tra i $100 e $150 dovreste riuscire a partecipare ad una crociera decente con pernottamento.

–Le tariffe solitamente includono i pasti, il trasporto e molte volte le escursioni alle grotte, mentre le bevande si pagano a parte.

-Se c’è maltempo le escursioni vengono annullate e viene rimborsato il costo totale o parziale. Meglio informarsi in anticipo.

-Se avete tempo a disposizione, e preferite evitare la ressa della Baia di Halong, potete dirigervi direttamente all’isola di Cat Ba, come abbiamo fatto noi. Da qui partono diverse escursioni per la Baia di Lan Ha, meno affollata ma comunque meravigliosa. Noi abbiamo speso all’incirca 13$ per una giornata, e siamo rimasti soddisfatti al 100%!

Before adventuring there are few things to know in order to live a great experience. Here our tips:

–With a no-problem budget experience will be unforgettable. Consider that most of the ship cruises follow a standard route which will take you to explore the most famous islands caves. This will cause you to be in a crowd of tourists, unavoidably.

-Most of the “two days” cruises with an onboard sleep last less than 24hrs and cost too much per person.

-You can find good price tours leaving from Hanoi, around 60$, but with less expectations. You can find cheap food and no good hygiene conditions. Or, with $200 you can spend two nights in the bay, kayak, swim and meals included. So, paying between $100 and $150 you should join a decent cruise with a sleep.

–Rates usually include meals, transfer and torus in caves. Drinks are apart.

-With bad weather tours are canceled and refound the partial or full cost. Better to get inform earlier.

–If you have time by your side and prefer to avoid Halong Bay crowd, you can get directly to Cat Ba Island as we did. Many tours for Lan Ha bay starts there, less crowded and beautiful. We spent around $13 for a daily excursion, highly raccomended!
