It’s like being inside a movie set, somewhere between waking and sleeping.
Braies has been an unexpected surprise for us.
It is a small lake located inside Fanes natural park in the Dolomites at about 1500 meters high.
Easy to reach, hard to forget.
During summer, the water is emerald green and reflects the surrounding woods. During winter, ice and snow paint everything in white. And so in this season we decided to grab the backpack to explore this amazing pearl of the Dolomites.
Once there, there are two ways to visit it: the first is following the simple path that runs along the perimeter of the lake, the second more steep and narrow with winding paths.
We chose a third option, walk on it!
The entire surface was completely frozen, and believe us: being in the middle of this place with a thousand reflections, lights and shadows, is a unique and speechless feeling.

E’ come trovarsi su un set cinematografico, quasi al confine tra finzione e realtà.
Braies per noi è stata una magnifica sorpresa.
Situato all’interno del parco naturale Fanes nella provincia di Bolzano, è un piccolo lago sulle montagne a circa 1500 metri. Facile da raggiungere, difficile da dimenticare.
In estate l’acqua è smeraldina e riflette il bosco attorno. In inverno invece il ghiaccio e la neve colorano tutto di bianco, ed è proprio in questa stagione che abbiamo deciso di caricare lo zaino in spalla per esplorare questa suggestiva perla delle Dolomiti.
Una volta arrivati, ci sono due modi per visitarlo: il primo seguendo il semplice percorso che segue il perimetro del lago, il secondo più ripido e stretto con sentieri tortuosi e in salita.
Noi abbiamo scelto una terza opzione, camminarci sopra! Tutta la superficie era completamente ghiacciata, e credeteci: trovarsi nel mezzo di questo scenario tra mille riflessi, luci e ombre, è una sensazione singolare e pazzesca.

See the pink mountains kissed by the sun has almost a therapeutic effect.
We could stay there days and days in front of this spectacle of nature.
Our advice is to go there it in the less crowded days to enjoy it the best way, especially in May, June or October. And, regardless of the season, walk the path for a couple of hours around the lake where the view is simply beautiful, and in the meantime you can fill your pockets of blueberries.
No wonder if lot of people come from far away to see this place.
As we have already said, sometimes you do not need to go far from home to find spectacular places.

Ha quasi un effetto terapeutico vedere le montagne tingersi di rosa quando vengono baciate dal sole. Potremmo trascorrerci giornate intere in mezzo a questo spettacolo della natura.
Il consiglio è quello di goderselo nelle giornate meno affollate per gustarselo fino in fondo, magari nei mesi di Maggio, Giugno oppure Ottobre. E a prescindere dalla stagione, percorrete il sentiero che gira per un paio d’ore attorno al lago dove i punti panoramici sono uno più bello dell’altro e nel frattempo si possono riempire le tasche di frutti di bosco.
Non c’è da stupirsi che arrivino da ogni parte ad ammirare questo posto.
Come abbiamo già detto: a volte non serve andare tanto lontano da casa propria per trovare luoghi spettacolari.
